A Celebration Of Avian Beauty

August 28, 2011
Why is the Peacock the theme of most Indian weddings?why does Peacock rule the Indian wedding invitation cards, decor, bridal lehengas, jewellery, gift boxes and trousseau packing

As beautiful as a bride! or an equally handsome royal Indian bridegroom

PEACOCK AS THE THEME of your upcoming wedding?

WHY?

Because it is auspicious?

It is India’s  National Bird?

Krishna adorns its feather on his crown?

It is colourful?

Everybody uses it?

It is ROYAL?

It spells INDIA?

It is a traditional Hindu symbol?

It is the most beautiful Indian Bird?

Think again, it is not.

PEACOCK IS NOT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL INDIAN BIRD.

LET ME UPDATE YOU HERE!

PEACOCK IS NOT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL INDIAN BIRD.

HIMALAYAN MONAL IS….

Kolkata beauty as colourful as an Indian bride in bridal lehenga on her wedding day

HIMALAYAN MONAL

WELL, well, well! Typically, while in search of the most beautiful Indian things, I came across the most beautiful Indian bird, the HIMALAYAN MONAL and I compared this beauty to an Indian bride and thought of posting it here.

I was corrected by the site resources and I realized I should have compared it to the BRIDEGROOM. It is a male! Like the Indian pea fowl (that surprisingly comes on a late fourth place), the male counterpart is prettier than the female who sits unnoticed at the back in the picture.

Launched as ‘Birds of Kolkata‘ in 2001, BIRDS OF INDIA is now a complete Indian birding resource with images of over 1170 species, checklists, trip reports, hotspots & much more.
